This research report has revealed that governments do attach importance to the development of the private sector and do in fact, recognize the potential contribution of women entrepreneurs. Bureaux or ministries to deal with gender issues, including the economic empowerment of women have been set up, programmes to develop skills in specific sectors such as agriculture and fisheries have been established, and business support institutions have been created.
