p. 53: Description of EYE Film Institute Netherlands. "The Netherlands Film Institute EYE is being constructed diagonally opposite the Central Station. The new name was adopted after a merger between the Filmbank, Holland Film, the Netherlands Institute for Film Education, and the betterknown Filmmuseum. The latter wil vacate the nineteenth-century pavilion in the Vondelpark for this contemporary, or perhaps even futuristic pavilion beside the IJ. The commission was given tot the Viennese firm Delugan Meissl Associated Architects, also famous for the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, who emerged as the winner of the design competition. The firm designed and abstract shell shape that fans out broadly. it is finished with light grey coated panels that, like cinematography, interact with the light. The designers want the project, whose unusual appereance makes it a landmark, to form a bridge between the two banks of the IJ. The long staircase alongside the building offers a new entrance to attract people of Amsterdam to the North Bank of the IJ
