J.G. Bethlehem | B. Schouten Nonresponse adjustment in household surveys
To avoid a substantial negative impact on the quality of survey results caused by nonresponse, often weighting adjustment techniques are carried out. Paper describes research aimed at finding auxiliary variables that are most important for including in weighting models. Also a technique is proposed to select the best weighting model

Caren Tempelman | Ton Steerneman Imputation for economic data under linear restrictions
Paper proposes a new approach to impute data under linear restictions. If the data are normally distributed simulations from the standard normal distribution are used. If the data are not normally distributed the Dirichlet distribution is used

Harm Jan Boonstra A simulation study of repeated weighting estimation
A simulation study was carried out to investigate the performance of repeated weighting estimators and corresponding variance estimators. The study concerns two three-way frequency tables for a population of persons to be estimated from a sample matched to a register. For the simulations carried out the differences between several repeated weightings (complete, minimal, simplified) are small

Frank Aelen Improving timeliness of industrial short-term statistics using time series analysis
The aim of this study was to improve the timeliness of the monthly statistics on sales development in the Durch manufacturing industry. The focus was on producing timely indicators in the presence of missing data. With respect to the currently used method timeliness can be improved from about 37 days to about 27 days after the end of the month, without sacrificing accuracy

J. Pannekoek | A.G. de Waal Automatic edit and imputation for business surveys: the Dutch contributions to the Eurodit project
Paper describes the general approach applied by Statistics Netherlands on the two business surveys used in the Euredit project, and the development of the edit and imputation strategy. Furthermore the paper provides results of the approach on the two evaluation data sets, and compares these results to the results of the other institutes participating in Euredit

Coen van Duin | Vincent Snijders Simulation studies of repeated weighting
A method has been developed at Statistics Netherlands to obtain numerically consistent estimates of tables from a combination of registers and surveys. This method, repeated weighting (RW), is based on repeated application of the regression estimator. This paper describes the results of five simulations in which various aspects of repeated weighting were tested. The differences in accuracy between the repeated weighting- and the standard regression estimator were found to be small
