This paper concentrates on the ten years experience in compiling supply and use tables in The Netherlands. It focuses on the features that have become the main elements in the Dutch system. Three subjects can be distinguished here: the simultaneous compilation in current prices and constant prices; the column-row-column working procedures; the transformation of supply and use tables into an industry by industry I/O table. Secondly attention is paid to the solution of some practical problems such as the traetment ot trade and transport margins. Finally some conclusions are drawn on the (dis)advantages of a system of supply and use tables in an economy that is becoming more and more difficult to describe
