Art in reproduction
nineteenth-century prints after Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Jozef Israëls and Ary Scheffer
Gedrukt boek
Recensie in: Boekman.20(2008)75(zomer.108-109) Publication describes the cultural history of art reproduction in the nineteenth-century. New(photo)graphic techniques and the development of copyright, the rise of the artmarket and art publishing, resulted in a wide distribution of printed reproductions to the general public in the nineteenth century. The artists didn't make the reproductions themselves, but were deeply involved in the reproduction of their works as will be shown by three nineteenth-century artists: Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Jozef Israëls and Ary Scheffer.
