Film
This Dutch-language NCRV-documentary shows life in Pella, Iowa, and specifically the ties of that town to The Netherlands. In elderly citizens that tie is still very strong. There are some second generation immigrants who have taken over their parents’ accent, without ever having been to the Netherlands. Vermeer is one of the millionaires who produces agricultural machinery and employs eight hundred people. Dutch symbols such as tulips and windmills keep the memories of the homeland alive. For Dutch people Pella is a little piece of America, and for Americans it is a little piece of Holland
