Ferry Maat en de Soul Show zijn onlosmakelijk met elkaar verbonden. Eind 1972 werd de eerste aflevering van dit populaire radioprogramma uitgezonden via de piratenzender Radio Noordzee Internationaal. Het programma werd daarna achtereenvolgens door de TROS, Radio 10 en Radio 538 uitgezonden. De laatste uitzending was in april 1995. Veel gedraaide nummers uit dit programma zijn bijeengebracht op vier dubbel-cd's. Dit eerste deel beslaat de jaren '70 met hits van o.a. Curtis Mayfield, Aretha Franklin, Isaac Hayes, Barry White, Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Tavares en Candi Staton. Ferry Maat is tegenwoordig dagelijks van twee tot vijf uur 's middags te horen op Radio 2 met het NCRV-programma "Maat in de middag"._
