Georg Friedrich Händel Concerti grossi op.6

Album

Händel beheerste het genre van het concerto grosso tot in de puntjes. Hij componeerde ze naar Italiaans model, zoals Stradella, Gregori en Corelli dat al vóór hem deden, maar voegde er vele creatieve vernieuwingen in stijl en structuur aan toe. Zo herkennen we de Franse ouverturestijl in nr. 10, de dansen uit de Lully Suite in nr. 6 en gebruikt Händel fugatechnieken in nr. 1. Niet alle concerti grossi uit op. 6 komen op deze cd aan de orde. Les Arts Florissant o.l.v. van William Christie hebben gekozen voor de nrs. 1, 2, 6, 7 en 10.
