Patrick Williams Sinatraland

Een 'must' voor degenen die houden van bigbandjazz èn van de songs van Frank Sinatra is de cd "Sinatraland" van Patrick Williams. Deze orkestleider/arrangeur was al nauw betrokken bij Sinatra's laatste cd's met duetten. Hij wist voor "Sinatraland" een geweldige big band bij elkaar te brengen die op verrukkelijke manier twaalf songs spelen die vooral door Sinatra bekend zijn geworden. Aan dit project verleenden o.a jazzmusici als Eddie Daniels, David Sanborn, Tom Scott, Phil Woods, Hubert Laws, George Bohanon, Mitchel Forman en Peter Erskine hun medewerking. Songs die onder meer op deze cd staan, zijn: "All or nothing at all", "You make me feel so young", "All the way", "Saturday night (is the loneliest night of the week)" en "Just one of those things". De big band speelt voortreffelijk en de solo's zijn zeer de moeite waard. De cd werd opgedragen aan Sinatra en de arrangeurs die voor hem werkten. (J.W.) _
