Ready To Die was het enige album dat The Notorious B.I.G. tijdens zijn leven uitbracht. Zijn tweede cd, Life After Death, verscheen in maart 1997, slechts enkele weken nadat hij was vermoord. Omdat hij nog steeds 'big' is, wordt ook op Born Again gedaan alsof de rapper nog steeds leeft. Executive producer Puff Daddy poetste oude opnamen van hem op en nodigde een flink aantal collegarappers uit om The Notorious B.I.G. te vergezellen. Op de gastenlijst staan o.a.: Lil' Kim, Busta Rhymes, Redman, Method Man, Mobb Deep, Ice Cube en K-Ci & Jo-Jo. Anders dan je misschien van Puff Daddy zou verwachten is Born Again een redelijk ruwe (gangsta)rapplaat, die mede dankzij de gevarieerde beats en bijdragen van vooral Eminem, Snoop Dogg en Missy Elliott de aandacht tot het eind weet vast te houden.
