Hoewel de in 1996 overleden dirigent Sergiu Celibidache tegenstrijdige reacties uitlokte, heeft dit de jury van de Edison Klassiek er niet van weerhouden hem een Edison toe te kennen voor zijn vertolkingen van Bruckner. Het juryrapport vermelde hierover ondermeer: "Bescheidenheid was hem vreemd, al beschouwde hij zichzelf als de meest objectieve en dus meest onbaatzuchtige dirigent van zijn tijd () De bedachtzame, dikwijls uiterst langzame tempi, de extreme intensiteit van de klank en de minstens zo uitzonderlijke zorgvuldigheid van de notenweergave vergen weliswaar een groot concentratievermogen, de inspanning wordt beloond met muzikale bergpanorama's om nooit te vergeten." Op deze cd wordt Celebidache's lezing van de symfonieeen van Brahms aangeboden; ditmaal niet met de Münchner Philharmoniker maar met het Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart, waar Celibidache van 1972 tot 1977 dirigent was. Deze uitgave bevat tevens een cd met fragmenten van de repetitie van de "Vierde symfonie". (H.J.)_
