Luciano Berio Duetti per due violini

Album

Tussen 1979 en 1983 schreef Luciano Berio een groot aantal duetten voor twee violen. Deze stukken zijn bestemd als studiemateriaal voor de vioolles, waarbij leerling en leraar elk een partij voor hun rekening kunnen nemen. Behalve een dialoog tussen twee violen zijn deze stukken ook een dialoog tussen de componist en anderen. De titels van de duetten zijn dan ook ontleend aan de voornamen van vrienden of van personen die door Berio bewonderd worden. Dat deze portrettencyclus opent met Béla zal geen toeval zijn, want ook Béla Bartok heeft een dergelijke cyclus voor twee violen geschreven. In Berio's cyclus treffen we tevens de namen aan van bekende componisten en musici als Bruno Maderna, Pierre Boulez, Henri Pousseur, Igor Stravinksy, Mauricio Kagel en Lorin Maazel. De Duetti zijn op cd verschenen in een uitvoering van Alexandr Bulov en Ilya Gringolts. Zij spelen tevens de Sonate voor twee violen van Edison Denisov. (HJ)_
