Bij Arts verscheen deze cd met marsen en dansen van John Philip Sousa, gespeeld door de United States Marine Band uit Washington. Van deze band was John Philip Sousa ooit de 17e bandleider. De cd bevat bekende werken als de destijds razend populaire "The Washington post" en "The stars and stripes forever". Bijzonder aan deze cd zijn de drie historische tracks waarin we Sousa zelf aan het werk kunnen horen. Het gaat hier om uitvoeringen van "The Washington post", "The thunderer" en "The liberty bell", opgenomen in respectievelijk 1890, 1896 en 1894. Aardig is ook dat deze uitvoeringen worden ingeleid door een overigens vrijwel onverstaanbare John Philip Sousa. (H.J.)_
