Interpol , Franz Ferdinand , Editors ... Slechts een kleine greep uit de vele namen van populaire bands die muzikaal leentjebuur spelen met Echo & The Bunnymen. Begin jaren 80 leek de groep, ondanks hun sombere muziek, een zonnige toekomst tegemoet te gaan. Maar de Liverpoolse groep rond de charismatische zanger Ian McCulloch legde het af tegen succesvollere tijdgenoten als U2 en The Cure . Met deze box krijgt de groep dan toch de vorstelijke ‘anthology’-behandeling die hun bekendere collega’s ook al kregen. De vier cd’s verzamelen hun singles en beste albummomenten. Alle nummers worden in het fraaie boekje door McCulloch en gitarist Will Sergeant uitgebreid voorzien van commentaar. (PdK)
