Radio 6 is ‘de zender voor soul en jazz’ en moet daarmee een tegenwicht bieden voor Radio 2 en 3FM die vooral ‘blanke’ popmuziek programmeren. Nu heeft alle popmuziek zwarte wortels, maar Radio 6 legt de nadruk op de muziekstijlen die het meest met Afro-Amerikanen worden verbonden: soul, jazz, funk en r&b. Elk jaar stellen de luisteraars van de zender De Zwarte Lijst samen, een hitlijst met de beste muziek in deze stijlen. Deze 3-cd verzamelt 56 favorieten van de luisteraars, al staat de nummer-1 (Otis Redding) er niet op. Wel Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Norah Jones, en Erykah Badu. Ook blanken-met-een-zwarte-ziel (Dusty Springfield, Wouter Hamel, Jamie Lidell) zijn van de partij. (PdK)
