Björk Vespertine

Album

Een pop album getransformeerd tot een opera. Die eer ontvangt de IJslandse artieste Björk. Haar album Vespertine (2001) met koorzang, piano, harp en strijkers leende zich goed voor een klassieke uitvoering. Björk deed dit zelf ook al met optredens in verschillende concertzalen (zie JKD0659 ). Maar het Nationaltheater Mannheim vertolkt een echte opera met klassieke zangers en musici. Waar dit keer echter niet de dramatische handeling centraal staat, maar de muziek en visuele kunst. Het Deense theatercollectief Hotel Pro Forma creëerde een poëtische, natuurmystieke en futuristische droomwereld over het ontstaan van het leven en de liefde. Met Fascinerende microscopische foto’s van microbiologische verschijnselen. En met rijke arrangementen van het trio Himmelfahrt Scores ( Jan Dvorák , Peter Häublein en Roman Vinuesa ), dat de 12 songs van Björk uitbreidde met tussenspelen. Met twee sopranen in de hoofdrol, een vrouwen- en kinderkoor en orkest is de opera Vespertine een indrukwekkende luisterervaring. (SvdP)
