Van begeleidingsband voor Ronnie Hawkins en Bob Dylan , ontwikkelden The Hawks zich tot The Band. In 2019 viert het tweede album van The Band zijn vijftigste verjaardag. De swingende Americana heeft na al die jaren nog niets aan kracht verloren en klinkt nog altijd tijdloos, wat waarschijnlijk is voortgekomen uit de drang van de groep om zich af te zetten tegen alles wat er in die tijd qua muziek (psychedelische rock, barokke pop) gebeurde. Deze heruitgave bevat een opgepoetste versie van het originele album, extra’s zoals studio-outtakes en de originele opnames van het concert dat de groep in 1969 in Woodstock gaf. (JvQ)
