Uitgebreide heruitgave van het album Painted From Memory waar Muziekwebs Cock Kats in 1998 over jubelde:

Wat een combinatie: Elvis Costello met Burt Bacharach en wat een cd! Prachtige tijdloze composities door deze twee gelauwerde songsmeden, met uitzondering van het titelnummer ( Johnny Mandel ). Het geheel werd voorzien van schitterende arrangementen. Painted From Memory heeft een duidelijke Bacharach-stempel. Luister bijvoorbeeld eens naar de trompetsolo in Toledo. Hoorden wij dat ook niet in de jaren 60 op de platen van Dionne Warwick waarvoor hij indertijd met Hal David nagenoeg alle songs schreef? Ook Costello is in topvorm en heeft nog nooit zo mooi gezongen. De songs gaan over verloren liefdes (Painted From Memory en This House Is Empty Now) en onbereikbare liefdes (I Still Have That Other Girl en Tears At The Birthday Party). (CK)
