Op 3 juni 2024 staat The National in het Auditorium Parco Della Musica Ennio Morricone in Rome. De band vindt het dan wel eens tijd voor een live-album en met maar liefst 21 nummers op de lijst is het zelfs een dubbelalbum geworden. Veel nummers van de setlist komen van hun doorbraakalbum High Violet (2010), zoals Bloodbuzz Ohio en Lemonworld. Het melancholische en rauwe randje aan hun muziek komt ook live sterk naar voren. De band weet de gehele set de energie op een strak niveau te houden en frontman Matt Berningers grillige persoonlijkheid schittert ook tijdens op het Italiaanse podium. De enige vraag die bij ondergetekende naar boven borrelt, is waarom de groep het nummer Roman Holiday niet in Rome heeft gespeeld. (JvQ)
